Tomas Maier opens his first Manhattan boutique
The Bottega Veneta designer opens some new doors
Located on 956 Madison Avenue between 75th and 76th street, the new store is a beautifully crafted 4,000-square-foot-space which showcases Tomas Maier's eponymous label.
The 19th-century Upper East Side townhouse stays to true to Maier's design ethos with an elegant interior and striking architectural features. Inside the boutique, draped over hangers will be the designer's expanded collection, which includes an assortment of women's and men's ready-to-wear as well as accessories – many that were created in partnership with old friends and collaborators.
Maier teamed up with artists such as Christian Astuguevieille and Osanna Visconti di Modrone on a series of one-of-a-kind objects, including a whimsical constellation of circular mirrors.
“For me, it was important to keep the integrity and the details — such as the grilles, the metalwork, the door handles, the architectural elements — and then I started to look at the concept around that.” said Maier.
