The Overdressed x Avenue 32 shopping experience in Bahrain
Showcasing new style concepts in the region
Founder of Avenue 32, Roberta Benteler, took the opportunity to explain to guests the novel concept of the site, an idea that came to her when she started working with a young designer to gain experience in fashion. Benteler said that the experience gave her insight into the everyday challenges that designers face – and within three months she came up with the concept for Avenue 32 – a platform where designers can showcase their product in their own 'shop in a shop', accompanied by editorial.
The concept was of course maximised at the event, which displayed such designers; Sheikha Dana was dressed in Tanya Taylor while Roberta was dressed in Giles Deacon. The black brass rails at the venue were lined with the designs of JJS Lee, Charlie Brear, Eudon Choi and Regina Pyo to name a few, and Toni Maticevski stole the show with his beautifully cut evening dresses.
The shoe ladder display was scattered with sleek designs from Paul Andrew and Alexander Lewis for Manolo Blahnik. The accessory section was draped in Degano and Elsa Marotta scarves, Venessa Arizaga necklaces and Lena Erziak clutches – while guests were served a selection of contemporary takes on traditional Bahraini foods and chilled rose and palm water by Bahraini restaurant Basta23.
