The Oscars 2014: The Best of the Red Carpet
Tinsel town sparkles for its ultimate soirée
The buzz surrounding who, what and most importantly 'wear' concerning this year's Oscar awards in Hollywood – held last night at the Dolby Theater on Hollywood Boulevard – has been mounting tangibly for a matter of weeks.
Making her style statement loud and clear, and serving as the fashion industry's current celebrity crush, Lupita Nyong'o has most certainly made things more interesting throughout this season of awards shows, and she didn't disappoint on for her grand finale last night, wearing custom made sky-blue Prada for the occasion.
Another hot topic of conversation, when it comes to the gentlemanly guests anyway, has to be that of Jared Leto, his quite beautiful mane of hair, white tuxedo jacket and red bowtie combination to boot. "I really never wear suits, it's just meant an opportunity to do something fun and classic," he said. It also meant that the two favourite contenders for winning names within the Best Supporting Actor and Actress (Nyong'o) categories made quite the pairing when it came to style power, too.
Fellow Supporting Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence wore orange Dior, before unfortunately making a brief slip up on her arrival, now the second year in a row that the successful young star has physically fallen down at the Oscars – albeit super gracefully.
Other sartorial highlights include Angelina Jolie, wearing Elie Saab Haute Couture and 42-carat diamond earrings, plus Kate Hudson in chic caped and sparkling Atelier Versace, Emma Watson in Vera Wang and Cate Blanchett in glittering nude Armani, who also impressed eagerly awaiting fans, not to mention the many industry representatives surrounding the biggest night in showbusiness...
Proving that despite the damp weather, and slippery red carpet, tinsel town lost none of its shine.
