The Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition is extending till September

More time to enjoy
The Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition at London's V&A museum was originally going to run until July 2019. But now, that's extended to September 2019...

One of the most sought after cultural excursions right now is the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition at London’s V&A museum, based on the 2017 show, Christian Dior: Couturier du Rêve.

Spanning from 1947 to the present day, the exhibition is home to over 200 rare Haute Couture garments are being shown alongside accessories, fashion photography, film, perfume, make-up, illustrations, magazines and the designer’s personal possessions. One of the exhibition’s highlights is Princess Margaret’s Christian Dior Couture dress she wore for her 21st birthday portraits.

But originally, we only had until July to soak all this up. Now, the exhibition is extending to September. Because according to WWD, the museum said the show had sold out less than three weeks after opening, and it has already welcomed 121,566 visitors.

Tristram Hunt, Director of the V&A, said “We knew that ‘Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams’ would be popular, but we have been overwhelmed by the phenomenal visitor response to date.”

An extension to September means one definite thing: you can head over during the summer holidays without cramming it in at the begining – you’ve got the whole of July and August to enjoy it.

The exhibition will run until 1 September 2019. Visit vam.ac.uk
