Last night saw one of the most celebrated awards events in the fashion industry, when the Council of Fashion Designers of America awarded its top prizes

The CFDA Awards took place in New York last night Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall – an event deemed equal to the American fashion industry's 'Oscars' – and in the most prestigious category for Best Womenswear Designer, there were only three nominees.

And to say that the panel had a tough choice is somewhat of an understatement. Between former head of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and had created one of the most beautiful collections of the season under his own label, and of course Alexander Wang – with whom there is seemingly never a dull moment with his work for both Balenciaga and is namesake like, and his recent frenzy-inducing announcement of a collaboration with H&M. And finally, there was Joseph Altuzarra, the dark horse adding some intrigue to the contest – and the overall winner of the category.
