The 2014 Emmy Awards: Best of the Red Carpet
Television's most colourful carpet
This year, the Emmys were held on a Monday night for the first time in thirty years after being moved from the traditional Sunday to avoid clash with yesterday's MTV VMAs, however this didn't stop stars from coming out in their best attire as the red carpet was draped in a sea of colour and elegance.
Television's biggest players were at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre last night, from Lena Dunham – who wore an ombré Giambattista Valli tulle skirt – to the whole cast of Modern Family.
Different shades of red, orange and pink seemed to dominate the red carpet yesterday, as Scandal's Kerry Washington donned a bright orange Prada dress, Mad Men's Christina Hendricks stunned in one-shoulder Marchesa gown, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus looked extra glamorous in a tight Carolina Herrera number.
Sticking to colour Julia Roberts glowed as she sported a beaded mini in deep blue by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. Keke Palmer also wowed the crowd in a colbat-blue structured strapless Rubin Singer dress.
Steering clear from colour was Modern Family's Sofia Vergara who went for a more classic look in a fitted white Roberto Cavalli gown as well as Julianna Hough who wore a fitted DSquared number.
Apart from the beautiful gowns of the evening, the gentlemen also put on a good show, with Matthew McConaughey wearing a tuxedo, shirt, and bow tie by Dolce & Gabbana as he posed with his wife Camila Alves who wore Zuhair Murad.
Another stylish duo was Heidi Klum who made an entrance wearing a vibrant Zac Posen dress along with the designer himself. Game of Thrones' Kit Harrington also looked dapper in Emporio Armani.
