London Fashion Week: Temperley London Autumn/Winter 15
Winter wears the trousers
Alice Temperley keeps focus on the Temperley London aesthetic giving the Temperely girl just what she wants for Autumn/Winter 15. The new, yet instantly recognisable geometric prints, and the addition of wintery heavy jacquards that still carry the free-spirit and nomadic aura of the British designer, are all over this beautiful new offering.
With a Spring/Summer collection full of the iconic floaty dresses in silks and chiffons, Autunm/Winter translated into the collection that wears the trousers: "Because trousers are just so easy to wear, and you don't always want to put on a dress."
Long flowing coats balanced the two piece evening look and metallics and bold floral embroidery covered velvet and silk in this liberal yet balanced collection.
Presented by Temperley's friends, in a characteristically less traditional staging, the show saw Sophie Dahl and a pregnant Jacquetta Wheeler walking the runway for her: "Sophie just looks so beautiful and I asked and said, 'Don't answer, just think about it' and so she did. And Jacquetta being pregnant, I just thought it was perfect. I wanted to have women of different ages, with personalities. That felt right." Temperley is playing by her own rules again, and we want to play too.
