Stella McCartney's new sustainable eyewear collection is as awesome as you'd imagine
Like we didn't love her enough already...
Now that it's 2019, we're well into our promise to make a more conscious effort to be, well, more conscious about the way we're living. Fashion is the first thing on our sustainable agenda.
And since Stella McCartney has been the leader of the sustainability pack, she's paved the way nice and good for us. The lifelong vegetarian has introduced a new eyewear collection exclusively using bio-acetate. What's that? OK, sure. We were a bit confused, too. Welcome to the Stella School of Sustainability.
Bio-acetate is basically a more natural version of acetate – which is a kind of salt with petroleum origins used to make plastic. Bio-acetate has two main components: Cellulose acetate (coming from wood) and plasticiser (derived from the esters of citric acid) that are both of natural origin and renewable resources. And what's really good about this material is that it delivers a very luxurious feel, too. Um, sustainable and luxurious? Thank you VERY much.
Ok, we're clued up. Now please enjoy these fashion-approved frames...
