Stardust by David Bailey at the National Portrait Gallery
Girls, girls, girls
Surrounded by a bevvy of his beautiful model subjects, David Bailey presented his new fashion photography exhibition entitled 'Stardust' to a selected audience in London last night.
Kate Moss and Jerry Hall were in attendance as was Marie Helvin – the third wife of David Bailey, who he was married to and worked with between 1975 and 1982.
Other guests to attend the event included fashion director Caroline Issa, socialite Heather Kerzner and fellow photographer Mary McCartney – the oldest daughter of Sir Paul. Speaking about Kate Moss and former model Jean Shrimpton – another of his subjects – Bailey admitted he "couldn't understand" the fascination. "There are many more beautiful girls. But they've got this universal, democratic appeal. It's like Dietrich and Garbo in movies, they've just got this thing that makes them stand out."
As for Kate Moss, who of course wouldn't miss such an important event for her long time friend, smiled at the camera and hugged him dearly, before happily posing in front of her own portrait.
