New York Fashion Week: Rodarte Spring/Summer 15
The life aquatic
Always one to showcase their keen eye for delicate embroidery and unique fabrics, the Rodarte duo stuck to their forte for their Spring/Summer 2015 collection – focusing on flattering silhouettes and details that paid homage to the sea and its elements...
The show began with flouncy, ruffle-collared blouses paired with skintight jeans and hook belts (think of an alluring, new age Captain Hook). Among the variety of looks, from oversized parka jackets to skirts, elaborate mixtures of hand-painted lace, tulles, netting and embroideries were used – channeling the shores of the sea, as asymmetrical hems hung like seaweed, delicate beading shimmered like it was catching sunrays through water and angular pieces of fabric were stitches along necklines to look like sea urchins.
As models walked with thin silver hoop rows piercing both eyebrows, the enchanting show ended with three long lush dresses adorned with sea floor details.
