Milan Fashion Week: Marni Spring/Summer 15

Collage dropouts

Consuelo Castiglioni combined nostalgic prints of flowers and fruits with elements of Japan's national costume and sportswear as the building blocks of Marni's Spring/Summer 15 collection

Atfer launching the Marni Flower Market in honour of the Italian label's 20th anniversary, the brand's creative director Consuelo Castiglioni presented the fashion industry with another bouqet of flowers, this time on the runway...

Like fine china, Marni's new collection consisted of ornamental prints and delicate folds juxtaposed with sporty silhouettes, from graphic bomber jackets to kimono-style tops and trousers.

Looking into the heart of the Italian brand with an ethos that is made up of playful meets wearable and conceptual, Castiglioni created some truly standout looks. Tailored leather jackets were adorned with chunky floral prints and tied at the waist with a piece of eleastic string, while a series of asymmetrical skirts made of delicately embroidered layers that gently cascaded down to the floor made models look like a walking Japanese collage of modern day femininity.
