New York Fashion Week: Lacoste Spring/Summer 15

A fluid transformation

The French clothing company – most famously known for its polo shirt – continues to explore the sports theme, however for Lacoste’s latest collection Felipe Oliveira Baptista found a way to create a young and edgy appeal towards the label's athletic motifs

Looking back into the Lacoste archives, creative director Oliveira Baptista choose the theme of yachting for the new Spring/Summer 2015 collection  bringing sporty chic back with a bang.

Re-working the athletic uniform of shorts and t-shirts into clothes one can wear to a party or work, Neoprene fabric was used for iconic polos for men and women, as well as sleek tailored women's vests and coats. Windbreakers were sewn around the waists of sweatshirts, jackets, and shorts, left to casually hang down behind the models – creating a beautiful draped effect.

The cuts from Lacoste were simple, clean, and stiff, as dresses were made in the form of polo shirts and numbered jerseys  transforming even basic silhouettes beyond recognition.
