Paris Fashion Week: Comme Des Garçons Spring/Summer 15
Rei Kawakubo’s little red riding hoods
Noting backstage that the collection's colour reminded her of blood and roses, Rei Kawakubo presented a linup of volumous silhouettes and a variety of manipulated materials and textures – flat, shiny, thick, sliced, ruffled and twisted.
Looks consisted of generous detail, as Kawakubo shined a special spotlight on the art of layering. Fabrics were intricately 3D as they were puffed up with padding on models' hips and chests and thighs – creating a unique sculptural effect.
Like a fictional character from another world, Kawakubo also designed a series of exaggerated hoods, worn over red A-line cloaks made from red patent leather.
