London Fashion Week: Christopher Kane Spring/Summer 15

Knots away

Showcasing a series of completely different techniques, Christopher Kane is weaving and knitting macrame knots throughout his stellar SS15 edit

Scottish designer Christopher Kane presents a dressy collection for Spring/Summer 15, with a low-key approach to embellishment, quite the opposite of what's parading on other runways for the season.

This, as well as the idea of flowers were concepts that he originally explored during his master's studies at Central Saint Martins under the late professor Louise Wilson, to whom he dedicated this show.

Rope and macrame knotting was present as an embroidered motif, wrapping up pleated slip dresses, sheer tops and trimming knitted suits. His full on explosions of tulle, which spilled out of a tight peplum jacket or on cocktail dresses, seemed to echo Wilson's lessons: always push boundaries... And we think she would have approved of the dark and beautiful collection in her name here.
