New York Fashion Week: Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 15

Sports day

Calvin Klein presented a collection of chic athleticism for Spring/Summer 15, with a colour palette influenced by Andy Warhol

"It's new for us," explained Francisco Costa, describing the direction of Calvin Klein SS15 backstage. "It's much more body-conscious – very sporty and in a starker colour palette."

And the results were sleek power at its best, with athletic silhouettes and elongated racer-back tanks worn over longer, fluid skirts and cropped, structured pants.

Costa cited Andy Warhol's Mao Zedong portraits for the collection's primary colour inspiration – of navy and burgundy as well as graphic, geometric accents and delicate lines. He was certainly not the only designer striving for an elevation of sportiness combined with grace this season, but he did so effortlessly and with panache.
