First look: Sarah Jessica Parker’s new shoe collection - SJP
Breaking the urban shoe myth
Inspired by her on-screen alter-ego, Parker says that we have Carrie Bradshaw to thank for her new ultra-feminine new shoe line, which features everything from classic pumps to colourful espadrilles. According to SJP in her upcoming feature in Lucky magazine's February issue, "Carrie's love of shoes meant I got to wear hundreds of pairs - and the more I wore, the more I realised that they are often the starting point of the style choices we make. Sometimes in fashion, little else matters but the shoe."
After a long wait of four months, following the announcement that the actress-turned-designer would be launching her very first shoe line, the first photo has been released. Printed in the February issue of Lucky magazine, the shoe style shown, the 'Diana' is a black Mary Jane single-sole stiletto, crafted from patent leather and featuring a thin, off-centre diagonal strap and gold buckle. It's pretty clear from the image that Manolo Blahnik, a brand Carrie Bradshaw was devoted to, was a huge inspiration, with a scary resemblance of the pair of Mary Jane Manolos from the Urban Shoe Myth scene when Carrie visits the Vogue closet and to her surprise, finds "the perfect shoe". Though we're not surprised, considering Parker is paired up with George Malkemus, the longtime CEO at Manolo Blahnik, to release her first ever footwear project. Landing in Nordstrom stores at the end of February, the collection retails from $200 to $400.
