Milan Fashion Week: Salvatore Ferragamo Autumn/Winter 14
Understated luxury with an equestrian flourish
A sophisticated mood set by Massimiliano Giornetti, Creative Director of Salvatore Ferragamo, was evident from the beginning of the show – which opened with a model dressed in an attractive plaid blanket cape featuring leather trim details – and epitomising the understated luxury and love for Italian leather that the house is famed for.
With a nod to an equestrian spirit – something else that the label holds close to its heart, was its inclusion of high-heel riding boots. A selection of capes, similar to the opening number, were included on the runway in a variety of offerings.
Sleeveless coats with fur combinations and structured accessories also made an appearance, as did the rich colour palette combining hues of black, brown, with a pop of purple, orange and special effect metallic – only serving to enhance a stellar AW14 collection by Giornetti.
