New direction: Fashion Forward Dubai is set for Fall/Winter '16
Fashion Forward Dubai (FFWD) has become one of the most integral fashion events in the region. The week-long event provides the stage for designers to earn global recognition and it's now officially endorsed by Dubai Design and Fashion Council. Now, this season, FFWD also has a new home, Dubai Design District (d3).
A new partnership with Muriel Piaser Consulting will also see this year's edition of FFWD bring in a whole host of regional and international buyers from Fenwick, Galeries Lafayette, Harvey Nichols, Neiman Marcus and Printemps. "FFWD is an event we hear talked about more and more that is becoming international," said Pascale Camart, Head Manager of Womenswear and Underwear Buying Department at Galeries Lafayette Paris. "Galeries Lafayette has always been international and are also present in Dubai."
The opportunity for designers and buyers to meet will be one of the key aspects of FFWD and the excitement from the buyers is reiterated by Paolo Coletti, Womenswear Buyer for Printemps who says, "I am passionate about my job, love sharing and discovering new brands and new markets. That's why I am really glad to be a part of this amazing adventure and I am really excited about meeting new partners and finding out more about the Dubai way of shopping."
Apart from the runway shows and presentations, FFWD will also be holding a programme titled d3 talks, with panel discussions focusing on both the regional and international fashion industry. One of the topics will be From Runway to Retail, featuring celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson. Other talks include the International Buyers Panel on March 31 at 5.30pm, From Runway To Retail: Moda Operandi on April 2 at 7.30pm as well as a Film Screening: Advanced Style (2014) directed by Lina Plioplyte on March 31 at 8.30pm
Fashion Forward Dubai runs from March 31-April 3 at Dubai Design District.
