Ralph Lauren honoured at Windsor Castle by Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
A star-studded charity dinner in the heart of Berkshire
As Ralph Lauren made his way from the vast Waterloo Chamber at Windsor Castle to St.George's Hall — with its vaulted ceiling and suits of armor lining the walls — the guest of honour Lauren quipped, "This is not a film set, it's the real thing. We're used to the film set."
With the spectacular British backdrop, the special evening was hosted by Prince William, president of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, in aid of the specialist London cancer hospital. The dinner honoured Ralph Lauren — who attended the gala dinner with his wife Ricky and children David, Dylan and Andrew — after the designer revealed a multimillion-pound donation for a new Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research that will open next year at the Royal Marsden's main branch in Chelsea.
Making their way through the castle's main gates, dinner guests included Cate Blanchett, Emma Watson, Laura Carmichael, Allen Leech, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mario Testino, Sheherazade Goldsmith, Kate Moss and Jamie Hince and many more.
Dinner began with the prince thanking Lauren for "incredibly generously funding" the cancer center that will "set a benchmark" for cancer research, and ended with Emeli Sandé performing an entertaining live set in St. George's Hall.
The dinner that was served for around 150 guests, included salmon with vegetables and tender steak.
