Qatar's luxury Qela label to launch first flagship in the US

Qatar Luxury Group's new brand Qela chooses New York City to hold it's 6,100-square-foot flagship store

680 Madison Avenue, on the corner of East 61st Street, is where the new address for Qela's first US store will be — set to open early next year.

This will be the third location for Qela worldwide, it is already present in Doha, Qatar and the currently in-work store on Avenue Montaigne in Paris (opening this spring).  

The brand's new and highly international location marks the expansion and growth of the label, cementing its multicultural attitude towards fashion. 


The Manhattan flagship will have a room with seating where shoppers can get a traditional taste of Qatar as they receive a cup of coffee and dates upon their arrival. There will also be an area called 'The Gallery', which will host rotating art exhibits every six months.


In addition to this, the store will feature a private salon that will be dedicated to couture and style of the city it's in, "This is the part of the boutique that will differ from country to country," says Caroline Guillon, Group Vice-President of PR & Marketing, explaining, "In Paris it will look like a boudoir." 


Qela's next regional conquest hopes are pinned on Asia, however, "It will happen when we find the right locations in the main cities of China and Singapore," Guillon adds, saying, "We are a new brand. We're not in a hurry. We don't want to come aggressively to the market. We want to take time to establish the brand position and see how customers welcome it."


All Qela products are designed and prototyped in its Qatar workrooms — by eight different designers — with couture pieces, special-order handbags and shoes all made in the country. 

Shoe and handbag production also get outsourced to Italy and France, where Qatar Luxury Group has an investment in French company, Le Taner.
