The private vintage Dior collection belonging to Alexis Mabille goes to auction
From archive to auction
Former Christian Dior designer – Alexis Mabille – is staging an auction of his private collection of pieces, next month, at French auction house Ivories. Mabille enjoyed eight years at the maison and worked under former creative director, John Galliano.
Among his collection are some recognisable Galliano pieces including a newspaper print jacket and a logo-print denim skirt with a saddle-shaped panel, both from his Autumn/Winter 00 collection. There are also set to be some special vintage pieces hitting the auction block, including pieces by Gianfranco Ferré. Most notably a gown from the Haute Couture 95 collection, which has an estimated value of €6,000.
A mix of other less rare items, and fun accessories including a bright red runway wig from 1995, designed by hair expert, Odile Gilbert and a pair of glitter ball stilettos by Roger Vivier, will also form part of the auction that is set to take place at Mabille's home town of Lyon.
