Prada and Versace to restore Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

The world's oldest mall

As Milan Fashion Week gets underway, news of more designer labels financially supporting historic Italian landmarks is revealed

It seems that Versace and Prada are the latest Italian fashion houses to come to the rescue of a crumbling Italian landmark, sharing the €3 million bill with a view to restore Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – one of the oldest shopping centres in the world and the visual inspiration behind the Galleria on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi

The brands follow in the footsteps of Bulgari, which donated towards the restoration of the Spanish Steps; Tod's which is funding the restoration of the Colosseum and Fendi which is in the process of overhauling the Trevi Fountain.
