Gucci's #24HourAce: Part 2
With the launch of Gucci's latest digital project, #24HourAce, the Italian luxury brand continues to gather artists from around the world. This time around sees a series of short films, using Gucci's iconic Ace sneaker motif as the protagonist. The short films – which recently launched on the brand's Instagram account – captures the essence of the shoe through a mixture of animation, stop-motion, and narrative-based film making.
Gucci's #24HourAce digital project for Gucci follows the Gucci Gram series, which previously focused on the Tian print.

Adam Csoka Keller (@adam.csoka.keller) for #24HourAce Born in 1991 in Bratislava, Slovakia just 2 years after the Velvet Revolution ended decades of communism, Adam Csoka Keller’s work draws on Cold War architecture and fuses it with fashion, movement, and set design. Faceless human figures are organized into formations evocative of military marches or chorus lines. Is it group exercise, ritualistic performance, or brainwashed trance? A seductive colorist and materialist, Keller uses fashion and props like a paintbrush to contrast the concrete walls and fluorescent lit lobbies where he films. The #GucciAce sneaker makes its entrance inside a drained swimming pool worn by listless adolescents who walk along the pool lanes, run across tiled surfaces, and play alongside slithering reptiles. The peripatetic wanderings give way to a locker room rave, breathing new life into the pool party and proving that concrete and techno are a match made in heaven. #24HourAce - @truegenuine See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
Julianna Szabo (@juliannaszabo) for #24HourAce Dublin-based Julianna Szabo’s paper creations are rich with playful details. In one animation, a snowy hillside appears, layer by layer, populating itself with trees, houses, and even a train rounding the bend. All materials and all forms—a waterfall, a dragon, a landscape replete with palm trees and even a ship crossing a choppy sea—are charmingly crafted in brightly colored paper, bringing a handmade aesthetic to her work’s digital presentation. The #GucciAce is rendered in paper, its matte texture making the shoe's classic design pop. #24HourAce - @lrsphm See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
#24HourAce - @tatianaberg Creative director Marlon Rueberg’s @marlonrueberg work underlines the global nature of culture, fashion and travel. In his lush video for #GucciAce, he takes us on a thrilling journey full of mystery, reminiscent of Bollywood films, with a cast including some of the Indian community from his home base of Milan. A train takes off—all aboard, thanks to your GG tickets. Let’s see where these characters take us. The star here is the #GucciAce sneaker, glittering with bejeweled set of vivid red lips, a symbol of potential. Wherever Marlon goes, we should follow. It promises to never be boring. #24HourAce - @tatianaberg See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
Hyo Joo Ko (@hyo_joo) for #24HourAce #GucciAce - @newterritories Just like Fred Astaire, South Korea’s new skate sensation Hyo Joo Ko makes it look easy. She seems to be dancing on air, as she glides her longboard through the streets and riverbanks of Seoul: drifting, twirling, swerving, spinning, never once losing her balance or breaking a sweat. When Hyo Joo first picked up a longboard two years ago, she never dreamed it would be anything more than a fun distraction from her day job. Since then, she’s won over the world with her effortless moves and retro chic. Both are on display in her #24HourAce clip, which gives us an intimate glimpse of how Hyo Joo starts the day. #GucciAce - @newterritories See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
James Kerr (@scorpiondagger) for #24HourAce Canada-based James Kerr’s animations put a cheeky spin on historical art classics. Drawing from old, often religious paintings, Kerr’s collages dour-faced historical figures into absurdist modern landscapes. A nobleman roasting marshmallows gets abducted by aliens; Jesus plays golf and cheats using his miraculous hands. For #GucciAce he charts an animated day in the life of the shoe, from its 7am wakeup to a romantic sunset date on a beach. #24HourAce - @lrsphm See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
#GucciAce - @newterritories Hong Kong-based art director and animator Frank Nitty creates spectacular eye candy, but this candy bites back. In his work across fashion, media and the electronic music scene, beauties and pop culture ephemera are sliced, diced, and remixed with their own grotesque glamour. It’s baroque excess by way of early 1980s MTV, but updated for the social media age, where tiny screens must convey maximum impact. For #24HourAce, sneakers dance in a fever dream equal parts Busby Berkeley and Rube Goldberg, hypnotizing us all. Keep your eyes on the red and green stripes, and don’t worry if your feet start moving. #GucciAce - @newterritories See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
Danielle Clough (@fiance_knowles) for #24HourAce The Cape Town-based artist Danielle Clough turns craft into art with her embroidery and felting. She can turn multicolored thread and fabric into anything, from a human portrait to dynamic animal imagery. This is fiber art, and Clough spreads it over tennis rackets as easily as shoes or clothing. The handmade results are delicate and colorful, splashes of inspiration in the city landscape. For #GucciAce, Danielle adapts Alessandro Michele’s sneaker embroidery, echoing his bees and flowers with her own renderings of birds and fruit, plus felt baubles swinging from the laces. Sneakers, after all, are a reflection of the self, and they should be as customizable and as individual as the wearer. #24HourAce [email protected] See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
#24HourAce - @lrsphm Lucia Meseguer’s minimalist collage mixes the familiar and the strange, creating eclectic pop art constructed from body parts and household objects. Playful arrangements of anatomical impossibilities—a row of faces peering out from behind a fashionable figure’s back, stray arms and legs adding gesture to static objects—give the Spain-based collagist’s work a quirky, edgy personality. Meseguer animates the #GucciAce with collaged hands and sassy legs, suggesting the characters who might be wearing these shoes, and where they might confidently stride off to, applying lipstick or riffing on an electric guitar. #24HourAce - @lrsphm See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
#24HourAce - @lrsphm Belgium-based Sammy Slabbinck’s collage mixes vintage photographs with contemporary compositions, creating a new kind of nostalgia. Slabbinck’s retro stylings pair perfectly with the #GucciAce. He casts the shoe as the star in an animated travel montage drawn from the mid-century, with a vintage voiceover looping over technicolor shots of planes and airports, interspersed with bee and flower embroidery. Old as well as new, the #GucciAce sneakers are a timeless vehicle for movement. #24HourAce - @lrsphm See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
Ward Roberts (@ward.roberts) for #24HourAce An exquisite sense of isolation permeates the work of New York-based artist Ward Roberts. His photographs and videos capture the loneliness of modern life, convey aching beauty and fleeting moments of perfection. Everything, from the lines of a basketball court to the unassuming architecture surrounding it, is connected in a way that is both powerful and aesthetically moving. It helps to be grounded, as he is here, in #GucciAce sneakers. What lights the shoes up—as well as the beauty of all of Ward’s work—are the sudden, subtle unexpected moments. When he turns around, his ankles glitter in metallic red and green. A flash of beauty, walking by on concrete. #24HourAce - @tatianaberg See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
#ChikashiSuzuki and #TaroOkagawa for #24HourAce #24HourAce An internationally renowned Japanese photographer, Chikashi Suzuki maintains a long-running collaboration with Purple Magazine. Here, he works with the filmmaker Taro Okagawa to create an ambient portrait of the urban scene in Tokyo. The crowds part to reveal to reveal a woman in fishnet stockings and Gucci Ace sneakers gazing into the midst of the busy street. Sneakers are an integral part of cities. They’re what propels us, and what we wear to differentiate ourselves in the mundane urban landscape. The Ace lights up the scene, with punk studs and pearlescent buttons accessorizing the Gucci stripes. The video’s subject also wears a filigreed brass knuckle, a tough survival tool as well as a reference to Alessandro Michele’s ring obsession. It’s a portrait of urban persistence. #24HourAce - @kchayka See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio
Emerging from her education in photography and printmaking, Nahu’s art combines abstract patterns and textures into all-encompassing landscape of color. For Gucci’s #24HourAce, Nahu creates a mural from the imagery of the Ace sneaker, including the birds, butterflies. And bright-pink hues that also appear on the sneakers in the #GucciGarden collection. The Ace’s dramatic lightning bolt patch informs the mural’s pattern as well. Nahu’s mural appears on a public wall on Macumba beach in Rio de Janeiro, an idyllic landscape with the same natural splendor as her art. #GucciAce - @kchayka See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio
Sue de Beer (@sue_debeer) for #24HourAce. Described by an art critic as “the pre-eminent auteur of teen angst," New York-based Sue de Beer’s psychological investigations into the world of adolescents and the paranormal have made her a favorite at biennials and museums. In her hands, the #GucciAce is a talisman worn by both the Cheshire cat and Alice herself. Inside a teenage bedroom, saturated lighting and off-kilter camera angles conjure the glamourous horror of Dario Argento while the basketballer cat signals the subterranean world of David Lynch. We enter de Beer’s vision through a double portal, a split-screen frame that references the two-channel video format favored by the artist. Welcome to Wonderland where the beautiful and uncanny coexist. #24HourAce - @truegenuine See more #24HourAce videos through link in bio.
