Paris Fashion Week: Rick Owens Spring/Summer 15

Bewildered ballerinas

Keeping the black curtains drawn at the Palais de Chaillot – not letting in the daylight – the master of avant-garde, Rick Owens, unveiled a strong collection made up of tulle, A-line silhouettes and texture

For Spring/Summer 15, the American designer took his cues from Ballets Russes, combining an ethereal world of elegance and structure with his own dark harmonies. Like fallen dancers, models took the runway with frizzy hair, black clogs and floating dresses.

Owens' resulting shape for most looks was a unique smock shape, resembeling a compressed tutu with panelling of tulle on either side.

Instead of the frills, Owens even created his own textures, such as crimped, pleated and honeycombed, with the whole show's rusted-metal colour palette made up of pale gold, khaki, brown, and pink.
