Paris Fashion Week: Elie Saab Autumn/Winter 14
Before his runway show in Paris yesterday, Lebanese designer Elie Saab was already making headlines thanks to Angelina Jolie, who chose to wear one of his stunning gowns to the Oscars. Saab further strengthened his reputation as a master of couture and creator of elegant dresses with his show called 'Dark Opulence', where he displayed an array of magnificent floor-sweeping gowns.
Saab took inspiration from the artist Mark Rothko's 'Colour Field' paintings, the colours influenced the ombré effects shown across his designs. The collection focused on a palette of dark colours including burgundy, black and navy, with touches of floral print. To enhance the look, the sophisticated Saab woman wears fur collars, metallic clutches and suede ankle boots.
