Paris Fashion Week: Céline Autumn/Winter 14
Back to basics
For AW14, British designer Phoebe Philo went back to basics, presenting a refined, elegant collection with a minimalistic approach - the latter a defining characteristic that has determined the label's success.
With clean and classic cuts, the Céline girl wears pieces such as a khaki dress paired with a gingham shirt, which looks chic and also offers a street vibe. An unexpected look came in the form of rib-knitted dresses with elongated turtlenecks, worn over matching bell-bottom pants - one of the more unusual references to the 60s trend which has been shown this season by many designers.
Although minimalistic, the show wasn't without its quirky elements, including pop yellow furry hand warmers and dresses designed with large bright stones. A new hexagonal shaped bag was shown on the catwalk - another addition to the brand's hugely coveted offering.
