Paris Fashion Week: Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 14
'Beauty and the Beast'
Sarah Burton compared her characters to those from childhood fairytale Beauty and the Beast yesterday in Paris – however the Alexander McQueen girls carry both elements at once: innocence and mystery, wild and free. Quite the departure from last season.
At the label's Autumn/Winter 14 show, the catwalk was transformed into a wild heath, featuring pale models mostly dressed in black and white ensembles, resembling Victorian maidens and warlike savages in furs. Then a touch of tenderness entered the dark place shown in the beginning, fabrics blooming with flowers, as well as pieces featuring feathers and a moss-like finish. The show ended with two white ensembles which reminded us of an awakened Sleeping Beauty.
