Oscar de la Renta collaborates with the New York Botanical Garden
The Dominican designer goes back to his roots
The designer – who is known for his fondness of gardening – took inspiration from fashion sketches to his property in the Dominican Republic – which features gardenia, orchids and Kousa dogwood – for his recent collaboration with the New York Botanical Garden, on an elegant homewear collection.
All the items – cutlery, plates, napkin holders and more – feature imagery all handpicked by de la Renta himself from the Garden archive of rare 18th and 19thcentury botanical books.
The beautiful collection was launched last week at the designer's Madison Avenue boutique in Manhattan. "They have the most extraordinary things at the Botanical Garden," Oscar de la Renta Home's new creative director, Carolina Irving, said, "We could have expanded the collection to go on and on..."
