First look: Opening Ceremony Cruise 2014/15

Futuristic tropical island

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim took over four SoHo blocks in Manhattan to show Opening Ceremony’s new mid-season offering

A live violinist played Lorde's 'Royals' provided the musical template to Thursday's presentation when creative directors Leon and Lim (literally) took to the streets to showcase Opening Ceremony Cruise. The pieces were on-brand and functional but decidedly more feminine than previous collections from the American designers, with strips of raffia adding pretty, decorative detail and tuxedo stripes peppering pants and delicate netted skirts.

A futuristic tropical island was noted as the inspiration for Leon and Lim this season: via anemone florals on tunics and skirts, palm prints on a jacket and cabana strips permeating the collection throughout.
