Olivier Châtenet curates vintage YSL collection to be showcased in Paris
At the Salon du Vintage in October
Come October vintage Yves Saint Laurent fans will be in for a treat as French stylist, designer and collector Olivier Châtenet announces a special exhibit of around 15 rare YSL looks. Celebrated as a Yves Saint Laurent specialast, Châtenet recently consulted on Bertrand Bonello's Saint Laurent biopic and owns over 3,000 YSL pieces.
Châtenet has curated the 15 looks, which all incorporate the iconic YSL saharienne, or safari jacket, from 1969 to around 1975. The Paris pop-up will run at the Salon du Vintage, which is a vintage fair held October 17 and 18 at the Carreau du Temple in the city of love.
“[The sarahienne] had various variations including trench coat, dress, jumpsuit, with lacing, and a palette of sandy tones,” Châtenet told WWD. “The first one was worn by Veruschka in Vogue Paris in 1968. Then, it was part of the collection in 1969.”
