New York Fashion Week: Hugo Boss Autumn/Winter 14
Feminine structure for Wu's debut
In a bid to raise the company profile of Hugo Boss womenswear, new creative director to the label Jason Wu made an obvious starting point with the German brand's main business, focussing on menswear and tailoring – as seen live via Buro 24/7 Middle East.
Structured and minimal, it was a collection however that still achieved subtle femininity and movement. Wu used cashmere and silk in a classic, office-friendly palette of black, camel and grey, and injected a few dresses into the mix, too – he is famous for designing Michelle Obama's inauguration gowns, after all.
Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch looked dashing in his own Boss suit in the front row alongside Reese Witherspoon, Gerard Butler, Diane Kruger and Gwyneth Paltrow, who is the face of another Boss fragrance to be released later this year – each giving the 31-year-old designer a standing ovation as he came out for his bow.
