Famed fashion photographer Bill Cunningham has passed away after suffering a stroke earlier in the week. The long-time New York Times photographer, often seen at major fashion shows as well as events, became a pioneer of the street style fashion photography movement. He said, "The best fashion show is definitely on the street. Always has been, and always will."
American Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, a favourite subject of Cunningham, once highlighted his importance in the fashion industry when she said, "He's been documenting me since I was a kid. It's one snap, two snaps, or he ignores you, which is death."
Bill Cunningham was 87.
