London Fashion Week: Natasha Zinko Spring/Summer 15
Girl with the pearl...shoes
Taking place at London's iconic Claridge's hotel, Natasha Zinko showcased her latest clothing and jewellery collection inspired by a romantic journey from London to Paris, with hints of 20th century silhouettes and today's relaxed wearability.
With nods towards the 1920's to 1950's, vintage details are present with the use of bows, pearls and classic cuts. The traditional cocktail dress plays a major role of the collection, seen as a classic signature piece but also broken down and restructured. Black silk halter tops were paired with flared pencil skirts and pearl detailing, while voluminous corset tops were worn with flattering high waisted jeans.
Zinko used volume in unexpected ways throughout the collection, from gingham sleeves and peplums to dresses in exaggerated sweeping circles. Gold anchors printed onto silk tops and dresses brought the voyage aspect of her inspiration to the show, as well as her jewellery which used patterns from fabrics and extended themes seen in the main collection.
The Central Saint Martins graduate also shone a spotlight on shoes, with models wearing leather slipper-style footwear, adorned with hand swen pearls.
