Two serious names in fashion have joined the ranks of ‘Time’ magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world

Céline's creative director Phoebe Philo and Net-a-Porter's founder and executive chairman Natalie Massenet are powerful people, it's official. The pair will be featured separately in the magazine, which hits newsstands worldwide on Friday. Time will also release the top 100 results on its online portal today, and then further honour its winners next Tuesday at a gala in New York.

The list is made up of several categories including leaders and revolutionaries, builders and titans, artists and entertainers, scientists and thinkers and heroes and icons. Usually, the chosen 100 are introduced to readers via a short story penned by a fellow leader in his or her industry...

For 2014, Stella McCartney has written a story on her friendship with Philo, recounting their first meeting at Central Saint Martins in London 20 years ago, describing how they became fast and "inseparable" friends.

J. Crew's president and creative director Jenna Lyons has done the same for Massenet, giving a slightly less personal, but no less complimentary report. "The word visionary is lofty, overused. Somewhat abused. There are few people who can really see something that doesn't exist. Create it. Explain it. And get others to follow. Natalie Massenet is, in fact, that visionary," she wrote.
