New York Fashion Week saw Naeem Khan looking to the Fifties and Sixties for his Spring/Summer 16 collection, inspired by the style icons of that era and their holiday escapes. Take a closer look at the collection here...

Debuting his Spring/Summer 16 collection at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday, Naeem Khan transported his audience to the Mediterranean, amidst sun-drenched gardens in the South of France.

Channelling the Fifties and Sixties, Khan looked to style icons Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and Jackie Kennedy as his muses for the collection, imagining what these four fascinating ladies would wear to attend parties whilst away on their luxurious holidays. The runway itself was over the top with a floral wall and arched white doorway, giving way to the collection that would soon after make its appearance.

Each gown more beautiful than the last, the collection was rich in embroidery and intricate beading with various dresses embellished with basket-weave sequins and woven raffia. Adding an extra element of glamour, bateau necklines and wasp-waists enhanced full skirted gowns - surely we'll be seeing some of these gowns on the red carpet soon.

Never a dull moment, even right down to the colour palette, the collection was brimming with bougainvillea pink, lilac, lemon, red rose, marigold and celadon green.

More relaxed yet regal in every sense, the sheer yellow beaded kaftan gave headway to the possibility of carrying the collection into the earlier hours of the day, outside of the typical evening affair.
