The red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards is one of the most fun from awards season, and the 2014 edition at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles last night was no exception

The MTV Movie Awards red carpet in LA last night was packed with the coolest young celebrities in Hollywood not only from film, but from music and television, too. It's a chance for all to celebrate the hottest films of the season – perhaps not all of which were necessarily Oscar-worthy but hugely entertaining.

The night kicked off with Jared Leto winning biggest on-screen transformation for Dallas Buyers Club – a role for which he also earned an Oscar earlier this year.

“The Academy is really prestigious but this is unique because everybody has the right to vote and you get people from all over the world that chime in and say whatever you want to say so it means a lot,” Leto said backstage.

Other guests included Johnny Depp, Mila Kunis – who displayed a small baby bump, Lupita Nyong'o wearing Chanel, Shailene Woodley, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Jessica Alba, Rita Ora, Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann, as well as a very demure Nicki Minaj and Internet sensation the Grumpy Cat, wearing a version of Pharrell's hat – of course.
