Miroslava Duma joins the Born Free charity initiative
Style icons unite
Inspired by the charitable foundation Born Free, 22 famous names in fashion – including Miuccia Prada, Diane von Furstenberg, Phoebe Philo, Stella McCartney and Gisele Bündchen – have joined forces for a great cause.
Each participant in the project has designed pieces that form a capsule collection in collaboration with online store Shopbop. All proceeds from the collection will be donated towards Born Free, a concept which studies the effects of the immunodeficiency virus, with a single; objective to create a generation born free of HIV – a global initiative to end mother-to-child transmission by Dec. 31, 2015.
Buro 24/7 founder Miroslava Duma is known worldwide for being actively involved in charity work as well as fronting fashionable collaborations within the digital world, and has a young son herself – making her the ideal face of the project, "I feel very close to the idea of this project." She states, "It's hard to think that in our time, when it seems that progress has gone so far and new and improved gadgets are appearing every day, we still cannot cope with certain diseases, and they continue to kill millions of people..." The style icon concluded, "But what is becoming more clear is the care that people have and are willing to spend not only their money, but also their time to fight for a better world, and a world without HIV is what we need."
