America's First Lady Michelle Obama has invited a selection of her favourite designers and fashion personalities to a special event at the White House
Titled 'Celebration of Design', the event is set to take place at the White House on October 8 and marks a first for the fashion industry.
The 5pm reception of October 8 is expected to welcome Jimmy Choo and Talbots executives, Mario Cornejo and others – formal invitations from Flotus were emailed late on Friday night WWD reported this morning.
The First Lady's soiree coincides with he Cooper-Hewitt Museum's National Design Week, which starts October 4 and runs till October 12. The fashion-focussed White House party will be held the night before the Target-sponsored National Design Awards in New York, which takes place October 9 and will celebrate 15 years of American design.
