Milan Fashion Week: DSquared2 Autumn/Winter 14
The boys behind DSquared2 made it quite clear where their direction is headed next season – and the results are like something out of a 60s mod flick merged with the ultra modern, all tied up with a touch of madness. A retro Girl Interrupted perhaps? "Perturbed Wonderful" were the trending words dispersed into the world of social media by Dean and Dan themselves – hash-tagging the phrase to followers and referencing their very own 'perturbed girls' to cement the notion.
The models walked with A-line mini silhouettes and enlarged baker boy cap styles, with glossy jacquard accents, super large round sunglasses and flashes of fur. Midway through the show, a trio of Chinese models appeared like a futuristic version of The Supremes, maybe a not-too-subtle reference to the brand's triumph in China last month following a trademark battle ensuring it is "legitimately allowed" to sell its designs in the region. Marry that with the pair's frequent presence in the Middle East and it can only signal towards the label's global expansion really being the method behind such charming visual madness for the year ahead.
