Met’s costume institute to be renamed for Anna Wintour
Reopening this May
Ms.Wintour is one of the most influencial women in fashion and editor-in-chief of American Vogue. She has been a Met trustee since 1999, raising around 459 million AED for the Costume Institute, as well as being actively responsible for one of the biggest fashion spectacles each year, The Costume Institute Gala.
The editor-in-chief helped raise nearly 146 million AED for the Costume Institutes 2-year renovation. The newly named institute will open its doors with an inaugural exhibition 'Charles James: Beyond Fashion'. According to a source the institute will include a newly designed 4,200-square-foot main gallery; an updated costume conservation laboratory; and expanded study and storage facilities.
