Parsons New School for Design to honour Marc Jacobs and LVMH

Double whammy

Marc Jacobs and LVMH will soon both be honored at the Parsons New School for Design’s 67th annual Fashion Benefit, set for May 19 in New York

According to the prestigious design school, Marc
Jacobs, a Parson alumnus, will be honoured for his "vision and singular aesthetic." Jacobs, who first launched Marc Jacobs International in 1993, has now built a fashion empire with two lines of ready-to-wear for women and men, as well as bags, accessories, shoes and fragrances. Jacobs was also the creative director of Louis Vuitton from 1997 to 2014, with his Marc Jacobs company part of the LVMH group.

Additionally, LVMH will receive special recognition to marks its 25 years of collaborating with Parsons, as well as "its extraordinary philanthropy, celebration of craft, and scholarship and support of innovation."

"Marc Jacobs is one of our most prestigious alumni and a guiding light in the fashion industry. LVMH reminds us every day how corporate success and creativity can beautifully coexist. Both honorees will enrich our most important fund-raiser of the year," stated Joel Towers, executive dean of Parsons.

The Parsons New School for Design’s 67th annual Fashion Benefit will be held at the River Pavilion at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and host around 800 attendees. The evening will also include a VIP seated dinner, a runway show featuring the best work from Parsons' graduating fashion design students, and the awarding of the 'Designers of the Year'.
