Marc Jacobs and LVMH to be honoured by Parsons School of Design
Jacobs goes back to school
Marc Jacobs has been named as this year's honouree, alongside LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (who own Marc Jacobs International), at The New School's Parsons School of Design 67th annual Parsons Fashion Benefit, which will take place on May 19.
Jacobs is a Parsons alumni, graduating in 1984, and landing the prestigious 'Designer of the Year' award at his outgoing Parsons Fashion Benefit that same year. The graduation fashion show and award are a highlight of the annual benefit, which no doubt Jacobs will enjoy watching this year, not least because he doesn't have the pressure of presenting. Although he does have the honour of accepting his award from Anna Wintour. LVMH is to be saluted for contributions to fashion design, and will be presented with an award from Saks Fifth Avenue president Marc Metrick.
Fittingly, Moët Hennessy will be supplying guests with bubbles and beverages at the River Pavilion venue in New York, whilst chief fashion critic at the New York Times, Vanessa Friedman, will deliver the keynote address during this year's benefit.
Previous Parsons Fashion Benefit honourees include; Jason Wu and Hugo Boss in 2014, Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez and Haudson's Bay in 2013 and Donna Karan in 2012 and Reed Krakoff in 2011, to name a few.
