The LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize short list is announced
26 semifinalists unveiled
The second annual LVMH Prize semifinalists have been announced today. 26 young designers have been selected for LVMH's shortlist including New York label Baja East, Copenhagen-based Astrid Andersen, and Canadian menswear designer Devon Halfnight Leflufy.
Paris-based Simon Porte Jacquemus, London menswear designer Craig Green, and London-based duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida of Marques’ Almeida – who all featured in the LVMH Prize short list last year – also feature on the 2015 list.
“It shows they have a lot of potential that they were selected again this year — and how they’ve grown and clarified even more their vision,” said Delphine Arnault. Adding that over 1000 designers applied, proving that there is “a great interest from young talents to get support from LVMH. As the leader in our industry, it’s our responsibility to identify young talents and help them grow.”
LVMH will fly all of the 26 semifinalists out to Paris, to take part in the luxury giant's planned LVMH Prize showcase at its Avenue Montaigne headquarters. Once there, the expert committee will meet with the rising talents, discover their collections and cast their votes – whittling down the 26 semifinalists to just 10. The winner will be announced in June.
