Go behind the scenes at the LVMH Prize presentation
Rewarding rising talent
As the second year of the annual LVMH Prize, has crowned its winners – Portuguese design duo, Marques' Almeida, made up of Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, Buro 24/7 Middle East brings you an exclusive insight behind the scenes, as the eight hopeful finalists brought their presentations to the lineup of design super-star judges.
The likes of veteran designers such as; Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Zhesker, Marc Jacobs, Raf Simons, Phoebe Philo, Riccardo Tisci and Jonathan Anderson, made up part of the judging panel, joined by some key talent scouts from the LVMH family. Their job was to evaluate, deliberate and agree on this year's winner of the €300,000 prize, and priceless year of mentorship.
A special jury prize was awarded to Paris based Jacquemus, who was among the finalists for his womenswear collection, bestowing €150,000 and one year of coaching on the French designer.
Both Marques' Almeida and Jacquemus were shortlisted for the inaugural prize last year and were beaten to the post by Canadian designer, Thomas Tait, who eventually beat out all of the 2014 competition. Tait has benefitted hugely from the prestigious win last year, with the help of the funds and guidance from the industry's leading creative and business minds, Tait has doubled the size of his company in twelve months. We look forward to seeing this year's winner and runner-up leap ahead in the fashion world in the coming year thanks to LVMH.
