London Fashion Week: Markus Lupfer and Emilia Wickstead
Known for her unique color palettes and feminine silhouettes, Emilia Wickstead took the nostalgic route this SS15 season, envisioning young girls getting ready to go out with their friends as her inspiration.
Creating a colourful and fresh collection of delicately tailored pieces, stand out looks included a tangerine-coloured coat over a blush-pink dress, a pastel-yellow high-waisted skirt with pockets, and a shimmering, white long-sleeved dress that had an asymmetrical bottom half. Silhouettes also varied as models took to the runway wearing a mixture of relaxed, loose looks, and dresses with nipped waists.
The scene for Markus Lupfer’s SS15 presentation was set up as a beachside café, complete with surfboards, a tiki hut and dancing models. The clothes were young and light, as the German designer presented a lineup of jacquard prints with Lurex threading and fitted silhouettes in aqua blue and deep-sea green – mimicking the soft waves of the ocean.
Vinyl holographic material also made its way into the collection, used on sweaters, party dresses and bomber jackets. In addition, enhancing Lupfer’s sporty theme, wet-suit detailing and chunky zippers were used as added details. The playful shoes were also inspired by days at the beach, as models walked around in colourful jelly sandals adorned with crystals.
