To Julia Kerninon
6/16/14, 10:30 AM
The Louis Vuitton backed Françoise Sagan Prize for Literature, was awarded to 27-year-old French author Julia Kerninon this year for her first novel, called ‘Buvard' (or “Blotting Paper")
At the ceremony at Paris' La Société restaurant Kerninon received a cheque for 8,888 euros, or 44,196.11 AED at current exchange, from the heritage brand's communications director, Frédéric Winckler, and Sagan's son who is the prize's founder, Denis Westhoff.
Julia Kerninon hit the big time at the tender age of 19 with her novel 'Bonjour Tristesse' (or "Hello Sadness") and has always been fond of Vuitton accessories. The luxury goods maker evidently returns the admiration.
The event was attended by a chic crowd including Camille Seydoux – sister of actress Léa Seydoux – Arielle Dombasle and Vuitton jewellery designer Camille Miceli.
