A new opening in the land of the rising sun shows that art can be integrated into fashion in both design and structure.

Leading luxury Italian lingerie designer La Perla has opened its newest boutique in Tokyo. The brainchild of the design firm Baciocchi Associati, the 380sqm store stands out in the Aoyama district thanks to its irregularly-shaped structure as well as the massive floor-to-ceiling glass panels that encase the building.

"La Perla is a special brand which has always been looking for opportunities to express its glamour in Japan," said Naruhiko Kamata, CEO of La Perla Japan. "Today I'm very happy to announce the opening of the La Perla Aoyama Flagship store, which will be the perfect showcase for the brand."

Designed to serve as a quasi art gallery for the maison's collections, the interior features gold metallic mesh, marble floorings and plush carpets. Mannequins are carefully placed on designated stands as well as pearl-chrome spheres to fully showcase the luxurious nature of the merchandise.

Spread over three floors, the lower floors are dedicated to women separated into several distinct areas through the clever use of colours. The lower floor also houses the exclusive Private Lounge, a spherical room bathed in soft lilac. Here, guests can explore the complete La Perla collection including those from the Atelier Collection and Made to Measure pieces. Then, the upper floor houses the men's collections which features grey Carnico marble floors.
