From cupcakes to cookware: Kate Spade adds host of new lines to create lifestyle brand
New York based handbag designer brand, Kate Spade, is adding a whole new list of products to its portfolio in a move to create a comprehensive lifestyle brand. Having experienced some losses in the first quarter of 2015, this influx of new lines will hopefully boost sales for the label.
The new additions include a workout-wardrobe collection, a cupcake collaboration and more, in a series of strategic new partnerships. First up is the Beyond Yoga collaboration, that will see a collection of workout apparel such as yoga pants and halter-bow camis, hit the Kate Spade New York Website as well as the Beyond Yoga site.
Other new lines also include a third published title – All in Good Taste – to launch alongside an expanded kitchen and tabletop line with existing partner, Lenox. A sleepwear line that includes pyjamas and a capsule bridal lingerie collection, and a kidswear line for babies, and child's clothes and accessories.
Perhaps the highest profile new collaboration is with the infamous New York bakery – Magnolia Bakery. That will see a collection of accessories including a cupcake box tote, banana pudding crossbody bag, an illustrated tote and a cookbook clutch. President and chief creative officer of Kate Spade New York, Deborah Lloyd said "the Kate Spade New York girl has a strong appetite for a novelty piece and a conversation starter," about the kitsch new bags, which are set to release this October.
To cement its status as a lifestyle company, Kate Spade have debuted a new campaign for Autumn/Winter 15, which stars Karlie Kloss and what the brand are calling “a cast of modern heroines.” Lensed by Emma Summerton at the Pierre Hotel, Anh Duong, writer Karley Sciortino, singer Alice Smith and redheaded twins Juliet and Elise Marold also star.
