Jil Sander's departure
The designer leaves the house for the third time
Barely a year after the triumphant return of Jil Sander, the designer has left her namesake fashion house for a third time.
A replacement has yet to be found, and the next collection will be worked on by an in-house team. Alessandro Cremonesi, CEO, said: "On behalf of the entire group, I would like to thank Jil Sander for all that she has done for the brand at this time. Its incredible design and creative leadership played a crucial role in strengthening the brand and prepare it for future growth".
The first time this happened was in 1999. Then, Sander sold 75% of the company to the Prada Group, working briefly as creative director before leaving because of conflicts with the Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli. In May 2003,she returned to the team, only to leave after a short time again.
Last year, Sander again took the Creative Director chair after eight years of absence, succeeding Raf Simons who had been at the house since 2005.
