Jeremy Scott's first collection for Moschino
From Moschino intern to creative director
Replacing Rossella Jardini - who was head of the label since 1994 - the new move for Scott created a lot of positive buzz when it was announced in October last year. At the time of the announcement, the rebellious designer told Style.com: "Yeah, it's kind of a fairy-tale story. I was the intern, and now I'm running the company." The general consensus from the industry was that he would bring a fresh new energy to Moschino and with his first collection revealed, Scott certainly seems have done just that - breathing life back into the Italian fashion house with this inaugural offering.
Suprisingly there isn't really anything "shocking" per say, which is unusual from the punchy L.A based designer. The pieces are almost a cautious interpretation of the classic Moschino retro silhouettes: large gold Moschino letters and quilted black leather bomber jackets. The revival is clear and also shows via an array of accessories, although Scott still manages to add his quirky touches, with pops of neon green and basketball jersey style dresses. Overall, it is a strong first project from Scott and we hope for even bigger and better things come February.
